    dive in.

Forest and rocks above. Layered terraces, wrecks and a world below that you will not see from the shore.

Borek offers space for recreational dives, training and freediving. Among the submerged trees you may encounter fish and crayfish, follow the transformation of the quarry along the former paths, and plan your next stop at the attractions.

The quarry is intended for diving. Swimming and fishing are not permitted here.

    Before the divers came

    Here, once upon a time
    people walked along the bottom.

The clatter of a crusher instead of bubbles. A siren before blasting instead of silence. The story of Borek began long before the first dive — and its traces remain under the surface to this day.

    1927 / A rare rocky outcrop

Serpentine bedrock provides a habitat for unusual plants. Protection of the local flora dates back to 1927; in 1956 the Borek rocky outcrop was declared a nature monument. It survived even decades of quarrying just beyond its boundary.

During the war / Stone for the wider world

At the beginning of the Second World War, the quarry opens. Serpentine is blasted out, lorries carry it to the crusher and the sorted gravel goes to construction sites. Over time, new levels and paths appear in the rock, which we now recognise during dives.

1992 / Water has the final say

After quarrying ended, the pumps stopped too. The underground spring, which the quarry workers had battled for a long time, began to fill the pit. Water gradually swallowed the access roads, terraces and the trees that had meanwhile grown on the slopes.

Turn of the millennium / A new world

The deep lake attracts divers. Underwater attractions arrive with it, and with them new reasons to return. Beneath the surface, two chapters of Borek thus remain side by side: the post-quarry landscape and places created for exploration.

    All the important information
    before you travel.

Current operations, calendar and visit details are all in one place in your account.

    Can I come without registering?

Before your first visit, registration and acceptance of the conditions in the visitor system are required. For independent diving, your qualification must be verified. Please complete registration in advance; approval usually takes up to the second working day.

What if there is no staff on site?

Verified divers can pay for entry online. The system then provides them with the gate code. Always check the calendar and current operating status before travelling.

I am in training and do not yet have certification.

You should also create an account. During a training dive, your instructor is responsible for you; once you complete the course, you can add your certification. Please agree visit conditions with your instructor in advance.

What rules apply on the site?

Each diver is responsible for their qualification, dive plan and equipment. Enter the water only after the conditions have been met and the dive has been logged. Follow the rules of operation and the instructions of the staff; park and move around only in designated areas.

Can you swim, fish or camp at Borek?

Swimming and fishing are prohibited. The site is for divers; camping and its current conditions can be arranged via the visitor system. If you are coming only to camp, you do not need diving certification when registering.

I need equipment or a course.

We will help you choose and prepare at Divers. Have a look at the equipment hire or diving courses.
