In the programme SSI Marine Ecology you will gain a comprehensive overview of how marine ecosystems work and their importance for our planet. You will learn about the diversity of marine organisms, learn how to identify them, and understand the relationships that create the delicate balance of the underwater world.

The course is designed for everyone who wants to better understand life in the oceans – whether as divers or nature lovers. The knowledge you gain will enable you to see the underwater environment in a broader context and will also encourage a responsible approach to its protection.

9–11 hours duration by agreement with the instructor
How the training takes place
Online study and a lecture with an instructor. The course ends with a theory test without a dive.

What do I need to bring?
You do not need equipment for the theoretical training. The instructor will go through everything you need with you.

What
else are you interested in?
Is the course suitable for non-divers too?
Yes. The course is also intended for non-divers and does not require any prior diving or snorkelling experience.
Is there any diving in the course?
No, the course does not include practical dives. Everything takes place in the form of e-learning and theoretical teaching with an instructor.
Can it also be taken in English?
Yes! The study materials are also available in English. A consultation with an English-speaking instructor can also be arranged.
How long will the study materials be accessible to me?
Once activated, access remains yours permanently – you can return to it at any time.
How soon after payment can I start?
Usually within 1 working day we will activate your access and contact you to arrange the lesson.
The course does not
end with us.
Divers Direct regularly organises one-day and weekend Events and diving expeditions for members of its club. And you can continue with follow-on courses right at these events.

We train in the deepest pit in the Czech Republic – at Aquapalace Praha in Čestlice. There we have ideal conditions for pool training, and it shows in our divers.
