    1. STEP 01 / 04

      Introduction

      The instructor first assesses the child’s swimming ability and adapts the programme. Lessons are for girls and boys. SSI Try Mermaid is for ages 6 and over and requires an independent swim of at least 12 metres.

    2. STEP 02 / 04

      Monofin

      Children gradually learn to use a monofin. They must be able to swim at least 12 metres independently; the instructor assesses whether using the fin is appropriate.

    3. STEP 03 / 04

      Transformation

      A mermaid tail costume and water games are added to the monofin. More experienced swimmers improve their skills and learn the basics of breath-hold diving.

    4. STEP 04 / 04

      What next?

      When children are excited by the new movement, they can continue in regular preparatory classes. Suitable groups and the next steps are agreed with the instructor.

    Is the lesson for boys too?

    Yes. The programme is for girls and boys.

    Can a non-swimmer come?

    SSI Try Mermaid requires an independent swim of at least 12 metres. We will first recommend suitable swimming lessons for non-swimmers.

    How do I book?

    Choose a date at divers.cz/rezervace in the relevant section. You will receive confirmation and organisational information from the school. Select the Mermaiding section and the blue Try scuba diving date. Please add the voucher in the note.

    What do I need to bring?

    Swimwear, a towel and something to drink. You may bring your own mask or swimming goggles.

    From what age?

    SSI Try Mermaid is for ages 6 and over. The child must swim at least 12 metres independently.

    We train in the deepest pit in the Czech Republic – at Aquapalace Praha in Čestlice. There we have ideal conditions for pool training, and it shows in our divers.
