    Experience has value.
When you know how to pass it on.

    1. 01You are a diving professional and want to expand your teaching offer.
    2. 02You have a favourite area of diving in which you want to develop other people systematically as well.
    3. 03You are looking for follow-on programmes for graduates of your existing courses.
WHAT THE QUALIFICATION OPENS UP FOR YOU

You gain an instructor qualification for a specific approved specialisation. This does not automatically extend your authority to all other programmes.

    1. 01 / 03

      Help people discover.

After the basic course, students look for another reason to get back in the water. Someone wants to improve their navigation, another wants to extend the season in a drysuit or better understand the underwater environment. As a Specialty Instructor, you will help them develop a specific interest and skills.

    2. 02 / 03

Turn a skill into a lesson.

It is not just about being able to do the activity itself. You will think about how to teach it: what the student needs to understand before the dive, how to prepare an effective lesson and how to recognise when its objective has been achieved. Your own experience will thus take the form of clear, comprehensible training.

We select specialisations according to your current qualification, experience, the environment in which you work, and the needs of your students. You can start with one topic and add others gradually. The scope of each instructor qualification has its own rules.

You will try out the teaching approach

Depending on the programme, work in the classroom, by the water or underwater will come into play. The trainer monitors the content, organisation and clarity.

    4. 04

We will fine-tune the introduction to practice

We will evaluate the preparation and fulfilment of the requirements. We will discuss equipment, organisation and how to incorporate the specialisation into your further teaching.

    MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER CARD

    Teach
what draws you into the water.

In Divers' offer you will find topics ranging from practical diving skills and equipment to understanding the underwater environment. The availability of a specific instructor programme and trainer will be confirmed during the consultation.

SSI distinguishes several paths to qualification, for example an instructor seminar, co-teaching or documented experience where the standards allow it. The suitable path depends on the specific specialisation; there is not one common requirement for all.

    05 / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Ask away.
    That’s what we’re here for.

Do I need to be an Open Water Instructor?

It depends on the specific programme. Some qualifications have different entry requirements than practical diving specialisations. Let us know your current level and the topic you want to teach.

Can I complete more than one specialisation at the same time?

Yes, several topics can be planned together. However, each must meet its own requirements and have sufficient space for preparation and assessment.

Will you recognise my experience from previous teaching?

We will review your documented experience with you. The method of recognition depends on the specialisation and current SSI rules; the sheer number of dives alone does not guarantee instructor qualification.

Are the study materials included in the price?

For this offer, the materials are dealt with separately. Before confirming the course, you will receive an overview of the specific scope, the required materials and any additional costs.

Which specialisation should I choose first?

Start with what you regularly do yourself and what your students will use. During the consultation, we will also take into account the available locations, equipment and your existing qualifications.
